Phase 1 (approximately ~3-4 weeks duration)

  • During this phase, Band of Barbells will only cater to existing members and personal training clients

  • 3 hour time slots will be set in place for our members to book in advance in order to ensure that physical distancing is adhered to inside the facility

  • Members will be asked to complete a COVID-19 pre-screening questionnaire upon booking their time slot

  • Temperature checks will be performed on members prior to entering the facility

  • Strict sanitation protocols will also be performed throughout the day and during the transitional period in between each time slot

The City of Toronto By-Law 541-2020 requires patrons to wear masks or face coverings in most indoor public spaces, including gyms. However, it is not required when engaging in a fitness activity that would make wearing a mask difficult or hazardous. We ask our members and guests to comply with this new bylaw by wearing a mask when not engaging in any exercise (i.e. entering the facility and getting equipment ready, wiping down used equipment, using the washroom, packing up and leaving the facility etc...)

Phase 2 (effective date & duration TBD)

  • During this phase, Band of Barbells will continue to operate under bookings and time slots but it will begin to slowly open its doors to new members and drop-in guests

  • The rate at which new members will be able to join and drop-in guests will be able to visit will be dependent on our ability to continue physical distancing during each time slot (see "Prospective Members and Drop-In Guest" section below)

  • Pre-screening and sanitation protocols will also continue to remain in effect

Phase 3 (effective date TBD)

  • During this phase, Band of Barbells will return to its original operating model with the exception of the sanitation protocols previously set in place as it will become the standard practice

Access Limitations & Time slots

  • Access to the facility will be limited to 10 members per 3-hour time slot and it will be managed through our booking system

Time Slots:

Time slot #1: 6:00 AM – 8:59 AM

Time slot #2: 9:00 AM – 11:59 AM

Time slot #3: 12:00 PM – 2:59 PM

Time slot #4: 3:00 PM – 5:59 PM

Time slot #5: 6:00 PM – 8:59 PM

Time slot #6: 9:00 PM – 11:59 PM

  • Time slots will be made available one week in advance to allow ample time for members to schedule in their visits

  • In order to ensure that all members have an equal opportunity to book time slots, all members will be limited to 1 booking per day and 5 total bookings per week starting on Mondays

Pre-screening questionnaire

  • Upon booking a time slot, members will be prompted to complete a 4-question pre-screening questionnaire to further safeguard our members and facility from the risk of COVID-19

  • If members are unable to agree to one or more of the conditions in the questionnaire, we ask that they do their part in limiting the spread by delaying their visit and contacting their health care provider or Telehealth Ontario (+1 866-797-0000)

  • If a member cannot attend a time slot that they have already booked, we ask that they take the time to cancel the booking

  • This will give another gym member an opportunity to fill the spot and will also allow the current member to use that booking for another date/time

  • If the member does not come for their booked time slot or does not cancel their booking, they will lose it for that week and will not have the opportunity to reschedule.

Punctuality & Arrival

  • We ask members to be punctual to their booked time slots as we will not be granting additional time for members to complete their workouts

    • I.e. if a member arrives at 8:00 AM for time slot #1 they will only have 59 minutes to complete their workout, no exceptions.

  • Upon arrival, members will be asked to participate in a no contact temperature check and will be required to wash/sanitize their hands prior to touching the equipment

  • If the member's temperature check reads >37.5◦C (mild fever) they will not be permitted access into the facility and will strongly be encouraged to contact their health care provider

Equipment Sharing & Clean Up

  • During Phase 1 and Phase 2 we do not encourage sharing equipment

  • Members are asked to limit themselves to one area/rack and to avoid physical contact with other members unless absolutely necessary

  • As per past practices, members will still be required to clean up after themselves

    • I.e. brushing chalk off of their bars, sanitizing all parts of used equipment, and returning equipment to its original storage place

  •  To allow for a smooth transition between time slots, we ask members to try to wrap up their training and cleanup at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the next time slot. This will ensure that there are limited interactions between the cohorts and that there is ample time to sanitize the facility

Prospective Members and Drop-In Guest

New members and drop-in guests will be permitted to join and visit Band of Barbells during Phase 2 of the re-opening plan. The rate at which new members will be able to join and drop-in guests will be able to visit will be dependent on remaining time slot capacity.
